Thailand pulled out one of the most shocking results in the history of Asian Futsal Championships on Wednesday as they knocked out ten-time champions Iran from the semi-finals of the 2012 edition after a nine-goal thriller.
An extra-time goal from Apiwat Chaemcharoen gave the South East Asian side a 5-4 victory and a place in the final for the second time in their history.
They reached the final on home soil in 2008 but were soundly beaten by Iran 4-1.
They will now face the 2006 champions Japan in the final the samurai blue booked their place in the final also on Wednesday with a 3-0 comfortable win over Australia.
The final and the third-place playoff will be played on Friday at Al Wasl Stadium in Dubai.
