QSL title race could be decided this week end as leaders Lekhwiya will need only one point when they face Al Arabi on Sunday to secure their second straight league title. The “Reds” are nine points clear at the top of the table, with three matches remaining, that means they can also win the title if they lose against Al Arabi and their main chasers, Al Rayyan, Al Jaish and Al Sadd failed to win.
The top match this week will definitely be “El Calsico” between AL Sadd and Al Rayyan at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Both teams will be looking for the three points, not only to revive their extremely slim title hopes, but to ensure they will finish second or third and avoid the fourth place that will mean they will face of the league winners in this year’s Heir Apparent Cup.
For decades the match between Al Sadd and Al Rayyan had been one of the most popular games in Qatari football, and this year, QSL added a number of accompanying events that aims at bringing more families to attend the match including a half-time mini-concert for “Hala Turk”.
The “Qatar Football Family” match will see a draw for VIP tickets to FC Barcelona match.
Elsewhere, Al Ahli will be aiming only for the three points when the host Al Wakrah. At bottom of the table with only 12 points, , Qatar’s oldest football club are set to be relegated to Division 2.
