Vercauteren deal falls through

Al Khor will have to find a new coach for the 2012-13 season after they announced on Friday that the deal with Belgian coach Franky Vercauteren fell apart.

French coach Alain Perrin led the club to a fifth place finish in Qatar Stars League this season, and also led them to the semifinals of the Gulf Champions League, but he left to take charge of Qatar's U-23 squad.

Last week, the northern club announced that they reached a deal with former Genk and Anderlecht coach, Veracuteren. The Belgian coach parted company with UAE's Al Jazirah in March and was looking for another club in the region.

According to one of the club's officials who talked to DPA, Vercauteren did not respect the deal and refused to sign the contract, he did not even replied on phone calls when he went back to UAE. The Belgian coach accepted a more lucrative deal to take charge of another club there, BaniYass, according to Al Khor's official.
