Qatar national team sealed their Spain training camp with a 2-1 defeat against Albania in a friendly international played at "Campo De Vallecas" in Madrid on Tuesday.
It Was Al Annabi's second match under the helm of Brazilian coach Paulo Autuori, who made an impressive debut with the team in February as they drew 2-2 with Iran in Tehran to book their place in the final round of Asia's FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.
The result also marked Albania's first win in seven international matches and their first win under Italian coach Gianni Di Biasi. The Team wore black Armbands in respect to the victims of a tragic road accident in Albania yesterday that took the lives of 11 persons, and left the nation in mourning.
After a goalless first half, that saw few Chances to the Qatari team and Qassim Burhan making impressive save from Edgar Cani, the Albanians took the lead in the first minute after the break through the Chernomorets Odessa midfielder Arian Begaj, his first goal with the national team.
Four minutes later the veteran Siena striker Erjon Bogdani doubled the score from the spot, after Khaled Muftah fouled Ervin Bulku. The 35-year-old striker raised his Albanian international goals tally record to 16.
Substitute Yusuf Ahmed reduced the deficit in the 53rd minute, but the team was not able to get back on level terms, as too many changes were made by Autuori to give a chance to as many players as possible.
Mesaad Al Hamad suffered a face injury during the match and was taken to hospital for tests.
The team will now head back to Doha where they will face Palestine in another friendly on May 28th, before travelling to Beirut where they will face Lebanon in the World Cup qualifiers, unless changes will be made to the location by FIFA in case the current unstable political situation in Lebanon continues.
