Al Sadd honored Gholam with a 2-1 win over Schalke

Al Sadd defeated German side Schalke 2-1 in Doha on Tuesday, in a farewell match for their former star and current sports director Mohamed Gholam.

The 31-years-old midfielder represented Al Sadd between 1997-2010 winning a number of trophies with the club including four league titles. He also represented the national team in 25 matches.

Teemu Pukki put the visitors ahead after 43 minutes, but Maged Mohamed pulled one back for the home side in the 69th minute, before Felipe Jorge netted the winner in the 74th minute with a beautiful left foot strike from the edge of the area.

Felipe Jorge is one of the few stars who showed up to take part in the commemoration of their former teammate. He is currently playing for Vasco Da Gama in Brazil.

Schalke 04 were in Doha for their winter camp and played the match with a full strength squad that included Spanish legend Raul and Dutch striker Jan Klaas Huntelaar.
