Al Sadd win the derby, Al Gharrafa stay top

Two goals from Brazilian striker Leandro da Silva helped Al Sadd beat Al Arabi 2-0 in the Doha derby on Friday.

Al Arabi played with 10-men for most of the second half after Qatari international defender Moussa Haroun was sent off by Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai in the 56th minute for a harsh foul on Al Sadd’s Omani international Mohamed Rabeaa.

Khalfan Ibrahim sent a through ball to Felipe inside the area, and the Brazilian played a low cross to Leandro who stabbed in from close range to give Al Sadd the lead in the 61st minute.

Nine minutes later it was all over for Al Arabi as Felipe made another pinpoint pass to Leandro inside the area, and the latter made no mistake scoring his 19th goal this season.

Al Arabi was reduced to 9-men in the last minutes of the game with another straight red card, this time for Brazilian Kim.

Meanwhile, leaders Al Gharrafa stayed top after they came out with a hard fought 1-0 win over Umm Salal.

Brazilian Clemerson scored the winner in the 54th minute with a low left-foot shot from inside the area, after he was sent through by Saud Al Sabah.

Elsewhere, Qatar sc stretched their unbeaten run to six-matches with a 3-0 win over Al Shamal, to strengthen their position in fourth place.

Al Rayyan beat Al Wakrah 4-0 to ease pressure on their Brazilian Coach Paulo Autuori after two successive defeats against Al Sadd and Al Gharrafa. Brazilian Afonso Alves and Omani Emad Al Hosani each scored twice.

The 19th round will be concluded on Saturday when Al Ahli host Al Khor, and AL Sailiyah face AL Khurytiath.
