Premier League interest in Dagano

Al Khor’s Momouni Dagano is keen on a move to the English premier league after reports that Wigan and Birmingham are interested in signing the Burkina Faso international striker.

Dagano finished the 2010 African World Cup Qualifiers as top scorer with 12 goals, and is one of the most consistent strikers in Qatar Stars League.

The 28 years-old striker joined Al Khor at the start of 2008/2009 season, after eight seasons in Europe where he played in Belgium for Germinal Beerschot and Genk, then in France for Guingamp and Sochaux.

Adriaanse back to Qatar

Dutch coach Co Adriaanse will return to Qatar again 19 month after he parted company with Al Sadd.

The 62 years-old coach was handed the job of leading the Qatar under-23 squad in the 2010 Asian Games in China, and the qualification campaign for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Adriaanse agreed to leave left Al Sadd in January 2008 after he failed to guide the team for a third straight title.

Last season, he led SV Salzburg to the Austrian League title, but did not renew his contract with the Austrian outfit and left the club.

Adriaanse achieved huge success during his days as AZ Alkmaar coach, as he led the club to the semi-finals of UEFA cup in 2004-05 season, he also won the Portuguese league with Porto in the 2005-06 season.

Rayyan to compete in AFC Cup

According to Al Raya newspaper, AL Rayyan is set to become Qatar’s third representative in Asian Football Competition during the 2010 season.

Al Rayyan will take part in the Asian AFC Cup (equivalent of UEFA Cup in Europe) after they finished third in the league and reached the Emir Cup final in the 2008/2009 season.

Qatari Champions Al Gharrafa and runner-ups Al Sadd will compete in the AFC Champions League.

Meanwhile, Al Raya also pointed out that Al Rayyan will try to secure the services of Iraqi international and former Gharrafa star Nashaat Akram who is currently in the Dutch Eredivisie with FC Twente.
