Clemerson equals Batistuta's record as Gharrafa win again

Al Gharrafa are only four points away from securing their fifth Q-league title after they defeated Al Khor 3-0 in the 25th round of the competition.

The team welcomed back striker Younis Mahmoud after a 3 weeks layoff due to injury, and the Iraqi target man was up to expectations as he opened the score in the 41st minute, before adding a second after the break with a flying header.

Younis then won a penalty that Brazilian teammate Clemerson converted successfully to raise he tally this season to 25 goals, equaling Q-league record of most goals in one season, held by Argentinean legend Gabriel Batistuta.

Gharrafa kept their 9 points advantage over rivals Al Sadd who beat Sailiya 2-1 thanks to goals from Ecuadorian Carlso Tenorio and Brazilian Felipe.

with four games to go, Gharrafa can even secure the title next round if they beat Qatar and Sadd fail to win against in form Om Salal.

Elsewhere, a single goal from French veteran Sabri Lamouchi was enough to give Om Salal the 3 points against Al Rayyan. It was their 6th straight win and the Orange team looks set for securing third place.

Qatar benefited from Rayyan's defeat as they beat Al Shamal 2-0 to move to fourth place. Qatari international striker Sebastian Soria scored both goals.

Al Wakra recorded their first win in 6 games after an Moroccan Anwar Diba's injury time goal gave them a 3-2 thrilling victory over Al Arabi.
